  What is Coaching? 

 

The International Coaching Federation(ICF) defines coaching as:
‘partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires
 them to maximize their personal and professional potential’
There are many interpretations and definitions of coaching in addition to the one above.  Most, if not all, will relate to an individual striving to be the best version of themselves.
Coaching is an investment in yourself.  It's about embracing change, creating new awareness, habits and behaviors.  It is about identifying beliefs that may be getting in your way.  Coaching empowers through building confidence and enabling clarity.  Coaching does require commitment.  It’s a proactive process that will only work if you are willing to put the effort in.
 
The essence of coaching is:
  • To help a person put lasting change in place
  • Coaching supports a person at every level in becoming who they want to be
  • Coaching builds awareness, empowers choice and leads to lasting change.
 
There are many reasons to partner with a coach:
  • Get a plan in place for a specific objective
  • Manage work/life balance
  • Increase self-confidence
  • Take a stock take of your life and identify where you want to go and put a plan in place
  • Expand career opportunities
  • Future proofing.
 
Coaching has traditionally been associated with sports.  Now, it is quite normal for someone to see a coach to help them achieve their goals in their life and career.  Coaching is a partnership between coach and client.
The coach helps the client to achieve their personal best and to produce the results they want in their personal and professional lives.
